BE AWARE OF SCAMMERS TRYING TO GET YOUR SNAP BENEFITS

Below are ways scammers will try to get to your benefits:

  • Text messages trying to get your Families First EBT card numbers or your PIN.
  • A "SNAP consultant" saying you are pre-approved for SNAP or that an application was initiated on your behalf.
  • Someone helping you apply for SNAP for a fee.

We will never text you to say your card is locked or to call a number to apply or recertify, and there is never a fee to complete a SNAP application.

To help protect your benefits and personal information:

Do Not Share your PIN. Cover the keypad when you enter your PIN on a machine.

Check your EBT account regularly for unauthorized charges. If you notice any unauthorized charges, change your PIN immediately to stop the thief from making any more purchases.

Check card reading machines to make sure there's nothing suspicious overlaid or attached to the card swiper or keypad.

Do not give your card to anyone outside of your household.

To report your lost or stolen card and reset your PIN:

Call EBT Customer Service at 1-800-997-3333 Visit www.NJFamiliesFirst.com or the ConnectEBT app.

ConnectEBT is the only official app for NJSNAP. You can download it in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

If you are not sure if a SNAP message is real, contact your county board of social services. A list of county phone numbers can be found at www.NJSNAP.gov.
